Birth Taxes and Religious Conservatives
For anyone who is sick of hearing the phrase “death tax”…
David Runciman has written an interesting book review about the political and linguistic tactics that were used to repeal the Estate Tax. He explains how a majority of Americans came to oppose a tax that only affects the top 1% of income holders in the country and an average of only 1.93% of deaths from 1934-1999.
Prior to the election, Democrats coined the term "birth tax," which refers to the budget deficit and its effects on future generations. The phrase has since died. Maybe liberals are just too snooty and academic to perpetuate simplistic phrases like "birth tax." Maybe the transfer of talking points does not work as well for the Left. Maybe liberals make better Doves than Parrots. No matter what the problem, here is my solution:
Come up with a Bush-like phrase that shades a concept blue in such a way that "death tax" and "axis of evil" have shaded things red. Post your suggestion as a comment or email it to me. I will collect them and later post the entire list so that liberals can agree upon their catchphrases and begin shading the country blue.
My suggestion:
Terrorist=religious conservative
Keep the phrases coming!

what about Bush Tax Cuts=Crony Exemptions. Bush wants to make his Crony Exemptions permanent, but American families should not be penalized just because they do not meet for brandy and cigars with the president and his friends!
Patriot Act=Privacy Infringement Act
Doug at Masson's Blog suggests "Red-Ink Republicans".
this one is to combat:
ACLU= Anti Christian Liberals Unite... how stupid can you be? how about...
Asinine Conservatives should Leave the Union...
-or-
to get back to what we were really posting...
No Child Left Behind= No Wealthy White Christian Kid Left Behind
I recall one crank writing to the local newspaper saying that ACLU stood for "Atheists, Communists, Lesbians United"
I had a previous post entitled
"No Information Regurgitation Machine Left Behind." ( http://inpolitico.blogspot.com/2005_05_08_inpolitico_archive.html) Unfortunatly, it is too long to be a catchphrase.
"The Faith Based Science Intitiative" designed by the Bush and his cronies to battle any "scientific" findings which could hurt his benefactors bottom-line.
Sorry it took me so long to contribute.
"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" = "STRATEGIC PHOTO OP"
"Coalition of the Willing" = "Us, that Tony dude and some places I can't pronounce"
