Follow Up on "Urban Terrorist"

I am retracting the statement I made that I might be a blogosphere terrorist if you ask someone conservative enough. I did not mean to imply that Keith at A Little Bit Tired had actually called me a blogosphere terrorist. In fact, there is no such thing as a blogosphere terrorist. I just made it up yesterday. And I am pretty sure Keith had never heard of me until yesterday either.

On a side note, here is a comment that was posted over there about my post:

“So to be a terrorist, one must have a political or religious motivation. And it helps to have some friends with the same intent.”
Homosexuals have both political and religious motivations and they have a few friends with the same intent. Thanks, now I’m allowed to call homosexuals “terrorists”. The same applies to the rest of the liberal, Godless, democratic party.
Woohoo, who would have thunk I could have learned anything constructive from one of “them terrorists”?

To be a terrorist, one must have political motivation AND KILL PEOPLE. Gays and liberals generally do not kill people to advance their political belief. The murder part of the definition is kind of important. Without that, anyone with any political agenda would be considered a terrorist.

Plus, the point is that right-wingers are ALREADY referring to liberals as terrorists. Does anyone actually read what I write?

I wasn't offended,
I was only wondering how you came to choose me or my blog.

No worries on my part.

btw,
if the friend you spoke of is Cynthia, I like her.

I disagree with every last word she speaks, but I love her her additude.

Tye, you are welcome to your viewpoint...feel free to post anything you want here. I just want to say that I disagree completely with everything you said. Your brand of reasoning breeds ignorance and hatred.

Hey Tye

Just checked out your website. Are you for real, or are you involved in some sort of performance art/absurdist satire? Just wondering.

If you are for real. Wow man, wow.
All that hate will eat you up inside brother. Have you ever considered tantric yoga? Tai-chi? I don't get into all that new-agey stuff myself, but I know some people who swear by it.

Actually, I do have a religion. It involves ice cold Tequila and the music of J.J. Cale.

Call me a "bleeding-heart", but I find this hateful.

Says Tye:

"The Muslims don't want to be your friends. They won't babysit your kids while you're at the movies. They want to kill you. They are not civilized. They are barbarians. Their god demands your blood."

"They worship the pedophile, homosexual, uneducated, murdering terrorist who founded their religion..."

I have a friend from Chad, and he's Muslim. He doesn't want to kill anybody. He's much more concerned with taking care of his two-year old daughter, and paying his rent.

Says Tye:

"These animals smile and sing and chant to their false god..."

Now for someone who is so quick to accuse others of "hating" Christians (which I do not, as I would have to hate at least half of my family), Tye sure is quick to call the Muslim god "false." Wasn't it Christ who told us to love our enemies?

Tye says:

"Given the chance, they would chop you into little pieces, rape your wives and daughters, sing songs about it for years to come, all in the name of their false gods, for pleasure."

Maybe Tye doesn't find these things hateful. Maybe these are the kind of things he usually talks about. But in my world, this is hate.

Craig,
the substance, deal with the substance.

Over-all is the religion of Islam a violent religion or is it not?

I don't judge Christianity on the actions of Eric Rudolph, and the words of Neil Horsely. Why should I judge the Islamic faith on the actions of bin Laden, and Hezbollah? There are extremists in any faith. There is no substance to calling people barbarians and their god false. That sort of discourse ignores any pretense of objectivity, as a narrow view has already been taken.

Tye, not everyone in the world hates Christians. And not all Muslims want to kill you. Try to avoid thinking only in extremes and xenophobia and it may not seem that the entire world is out to get you.

AND, for the record, I find it incredibly offensive that you presume to know my religious practices after having read one post on my blog. I am pleased to know that you love me "in spite of my hate of God and his children." The fact is I do not hate God and his children. I may not be a fundamentalist like you, but that does not mean that you can make assumptions about my soul or my feelings or my alleged hethenism. Maybe you also would like to guess what my favorite meal is, or how many times I have had sex this month, or the number of hairs on my head?

Tye, I do not want to focus on my faith because this is a POLITICAL blog and I am one of the few people left who feels that religion and politics should not mix.

If you have anything to add in response to the original post (which was about misuse of the word terrorist, if anyone has forgotten), I look forward to reading it.
