Harriet Miers
I still have a lot of research to do on Bush's surprising pick for SCOTUS. My initial thoughts are:
1) CRONYISM...but not like Brownie. At least Harriet was forced to study and pass a bar exam, meaning that she has some knowledge of the field.
2) I fear she has been so immersed in the Bush Administration Culture of Crazy that political tactics used by the Administration may be so ingrained in her that they turn into questionable judicial decisions. (i.e. "going to the base" by vilifying gays vs. actually rendering decisions that permanently discriminate against gays.)
3) It could be much worse. The severely negative reaction of the Christian Right is reassuring. If they are unhappy, it cannot be too bad.
