The Mystery Cause of Autism

Forget Watergate. Forget Rathergate. Forget Monicagate. Forget the leak of Valerie Plame’s name to the press. Forget, even, the Downing Street Memos. What follows is by far the sickest of all scandals and cover-ups in my lifetime.

A Rolling Stone article written by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., exposes that the government has been covering up information that CDC-mandated vaccines contain an ingredient that causes autism and other neurological disorders. The author also interviews with Scarborough here. Kennedy’s article is lengthy, so here are the main points:

Thimerosal is a preservative used in vaccines that is significantly linked to autism by numerous studies and researchers, including the government’s own scientists. The first study to evidence such a connection was conducted in 1930 by Eli Lilly, the producer of Thimerosal, before the toxin was ever put on the market.

In 1990, the CDC increased the required number of infant vaccines, each of which contained Thimerosal.

Since 1991, the estimated number of cases of autism had increased fifteenfold, from one in every 2,500 children to one in 166 children.

In early 2000, CDC epidemiologist named Tom Verstraeten finished a study that proved the link between Thimerosal and autism.

In June 2000, before Verstraeten’s results were published, a secret meeting was held by Verstraeten, high-ranking officials in the CDC, FDA, WHO, and representatives from pharmaceutical companies. The subject matter: How to cover up the fact that the government had been pumping autism-inducing mercury into our nation’s children for the past ten years. [This is not another journalistgate…the transcript from the meeting was obtained from the government through the Freedom of Information Act.]

Since the conference ended and the cover-up began...

Verstraeten has gone to work for GlaxoSmithKline and has since revised his conclusions and “lost” his original data.

Vaccine manufacturers have exported the vaccines with Thimerosal to developing countries as a way to quickly and quietly phase it from domestic vaccine stock.

U.S. vaccine records were shipped to a private company, so that they were no longer obtainable through the Freedom of Information Act.

Bill Frist has twice passed the “Eli Lilly Protection Act” which shields Lilly from any legal liability for vaccination injuries.

And as the President continues to lobby for medical malpractice reform, he lobbies to take away the ability of parents to receive damages for an error the government itself caused in conjunction with the pharmaceutical industry.

In light of this information, particularly that about the secret meeting, Indiana Politico gives 17 thumbs-up to Rep. Dan Burton of Indiana’s 5th District for causing his Government Reform Committee to conduct a 3-year study of Thimerosal which produced the following report:

"Thimerosal used as a preservative in vaccines is directly related to the autism epidemic…This epidemic in all probability may have been prevented or curtailed had the FDA not been asleep at the switch regarding a lack of safety data regarding injected thimerosal, a known neurotoxin… [The FDA and other public-health agencies failed to act] out of institutional malfeasance for self protection… and misplaced protectionism of the pharmaceutical industry.”
